The county of Oxfordshire is situated in southern England. Historically it was an agricultural county but today less than one percent of the population are employed in agriculture. Tourism is now more important and the county is also a hub for companies involved in motorsport development.

The county town is the city of Oxford, famous for the University of Oxford. Many do not realise that there is a second university – Oxford Brooks University. The University of Oxford is one of the oldest in the world, being founded in 1096. The city is also renowned for publishing.

Oxfordshire has borders with six other counties, namely Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Gloucestershire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and Wiltshire.
